“Picnic”

Poster and Playbill

A matching poster and playbill designed for the play “Picnic” by William Inge, put on by Utah Tech University Theatre Dept. I was really inspired to use patchwork textures in each of the shapes and silhouettes. Everything created in Adobe illustrator and finally submitted to the theatre department for consideration of use.

Sketches

It was a bit interesting doing these sketches, trying to keep in mind that I had to make a matching playbill. After working through sketches, is when I decided it would be cool to use a patchwork of textures instead of fleshed out illustrations.

Final Poster

I really love the execution of the design. I I were to go back and re-do the design, I would find a texture that makes the couple stand out a bit more. I am really proud of the typography, I think it matches the essence of the play completely.

Final Playbill & Mockups

The playbill almost mirrors the poster, minus the promotional text and railroad, with the company presenting at the top. An obvious pair, tweaking the elements to fit its purpose.
