Travel Poster:

Big Sky Country

A poster designed to promote travel and tourism in Montana. The poster is intended to be 2 x 4 feet when printed. It features mountains seen in Glacier National Park, the Going to The Sun Road, native animals, plants, and a train bridge. Designed to mimic a vintage postcard, it has a cream color boarder, a serif font paired with a script, and a crinkled paper-like texture and grain.

Sketches

On the left:

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to make a poster for Montana. I listed details I might want to include before coming up with a few different compositions.

On the right:

I made a bigger, more refined sketch of the composition that I had picked, trying to include each detail as best I could.

The Final Poster

I Illustrated all of the details in Adobe Illustrator and used textured overlays to help give the poster a “worn paper” type look. I was inspired by vintage postcards when designing the typeography and the format. I wanted to be sure to include each of my favorite parts of western Montana. The Going-To-The-Sun Road, wildlife, native wild flowers, lakes, rivers, mountains, trains, oh my! I am beyond happy with the outcome of this poster.
