Fantasy Card Deck
A deck of cards inspired by 80’s dark fantasy illustrations. Each face card character, and symbol in the center of the number cards were made in Procreate for the iPad, and vectorized in Adobe illustrator. The background of each card is intended to look like parchment, and the back of the cards a leather book cover.

Sketches
In these sketches I experimented with different compositions for face cards and decided which fantasy theme would be assigned to each suit. I decided on “people” assigned to hearts, “magic” for clubs, “structures” for diamonds, and “creatures” for feathers. I also experimented with different boarders before ultimately deciding on no boarder.
The Final Card Deck
I am so beyond happy with these playing cards, I even got them printed to give out for Christmas. A total hit! A little more insight into the design, I decided to go with a fantasy theme, with illustrations inspired by “AI 80s fantasy” videos I had been getting on my For You Page on TikTok. So naturally I had to give all of my illustrations a bit of a comic-book feel. The warm, parchment background on the face of the card, and leathery texture on the back of the card is intended to help the card feel like it was taken from a fantasy-medieval leather bound book; full of magic, and creatures and so forth. I did the illustrations in Procreate for on the iPad and assembled the rest in Adobe Illustrator. One of my favorite projects to date!
